Simple Thing

Genre: Pop, Rock
Hometown: Brooklyn, NY

Simple Thing lead singer/guitarist Bryan Dunn established himself by writing provocative songs while touring the Southwest with his former band, 3 Penny Opera. Bass guitarist David C. has recorded with both Cleopatra and Projekt Records and serves as Simple Thing’s primary producer and engineer. Johnny Hi-Fi not only sings harmony and plays guitar for Thing, but in his “spare time” fronts his own internationally recorded Asian-Brit pop group on Magic Stone Records (Taiwan). Finally, Wiley has been drumming since 6th grade and more recently worked in A&R for both Universal Music Group (FarmClub Records) and Coyote Music.

In New York City, fans can rock with Simple Thing at venues like The Village Underground, Luna Lounge and Le Bar Bat. The guys also pack the house at their annual homecoming performances in Austin, Texas.

Assembled in Brooklyn and raised in the clubs of the Greenwich Village, Simple Thing has quickly made a name for itself around the New York City music scene. The group’s addictive songs and energetic live shows have generated both a buzz and a sizeable following. The music, put simply, is guitar-driven pop rock, enhanced by compelling melodies and intelligent lyrics. Interpreted by four veteran musicians from different musical backgrounds, Simple Thing’s songs are at once fresh, unique and strangely familiar. Critics have begun to take notice of Simple Thing’s craft and they like what they hear:

“Thoughtful lyrics [that] evoke a different emotion with each song.”
- INSite Magazine, Austin, TX

“…very nice work with lovely hook-laden cuts.”
- The Musician’s Trade Journal
