6th and Waller First F.A.M. Weekend

Free to the public!

6th and Waller (Austin, TX)
Saturday, February 5, 2011
3:00PM - 4:30PM

February 4-5, 2011, check out some of Austin's finest local creative talent at the first installment of what will be a monthly food, art, and music event at 6th and Waller, brought to you by Strong Deer Entertainment! The first 50 attendees will receive custom made, reusable swag bags (by MLW) filled with goodies from awesome local vendors.

Friday night from 7pm-12am is the inaugural event (BYOB), featuring live music performances by
Clemits, Southern Envy, Sorne, and Fields of Forel. Then, on Saturday the 5th from 12pm-6:30pm, the fun keeps going with live music by Mesanger, Sunny Fairly, Scorpio Rising, Three Leaf, and Sydney Wright and The Wrightious Revolution.

The art exhibition portion showcases the work of Chantell Champlain, Amanda Westbrook, Nicole Menard, and Myrna Zolezzi, as well as photography by Phill Janzen.

Champlain’s Visions of Personal Evolution work shows spectators that "through our creations, our perceptions are transformed, we evolve as individuals." Chantell Champlain is also the primary force – creative and otherwise – behind the new ongoing series of events, and says of her mission, "These events are designed to bring the creative stimulation Austin is starved for while providing a quality venue and supportive environment for Austin's finest local artistic talent of all genres."

On top of the live music and visual art, there will be live art taking place during each event. For the initial night you’ll see graffiti art by Nick (aka Mesanger), glass art by Joaquin Allen, and live painting by Ricky Santi Jaen and Baylor Estes. The same artists (aside from Mesanger, who is performing music on Saturday instead of graffiti painting) are on the bill for the 2nd day, and will be continuing to dazzle you as they crank out more new work.

An outdoor artist market will be set up, at which party-goers can buy paintings, photography, sculptures, jewelry and wearable art from an array of unique local crafters and artisans. Also on hand for your enjoyment are some of Austin’s finest food and hottest drinks provided by Old School BBQ & Grill (AKA Big Momma), Along Came a Slider, Lucky J's Chicken and Waffles, Phobe's Mudd Espresso Bar, Cool Haus, and more.

The 6th & Waller First F.A.M. event is sponsored by Old School BBQ & Grill, Strong Deer Art, ATX Event Systems, and the Skank Family Artist Collective.

SPECIAL THANKS: Janzen Photography, Fleur Artistry, Debut Music, Number 9 Photography, Birds Barbershop, Clayworks, South Austin Soul, Malissa Long Wear, The Hat Productions, Sport Booking and Gadflys.
