Nick Lowe Hoot Nite and Benefit Show!

February 22, 2008 - Austin, TX Four rockin' Austin bands will celebrate the 30th Anniversary Reissue—nay, Resurrection—of Nick Lowe's legendary album, Jesus of Cool on Friday, February 22nd, 8:00PM-2:00AM at the Hole in the Wall (2538 Guadalupe, Austin, TX). Proceeds go to charity; CD giveaways courtesy of Yep Roc Records.

Who’s in it?

8:00PM  Elizabeth McQueen  Pub-rock aficionado and member of Asleep at the Wheel
9:30PM  The Lowelies  Austin's favorite Nick Lowe tribute band for 2 years running...
11:00PM  Ron Flynt & Eric Hisaw  A highlight act on Lowe Profile, a recent Nick tribute album
12:30AM  Mandible  Rock rock rock from some big Nick fans, say no more

Yep Roc Records, the ones releasing Jesus of Cool on Tuesday, February 19th, are throwing a record-release party in Austin, Portland, Seattle, Cambridge, Nashville, Columbus, Cincinnati, and Philly. Ours will be the most kick-ass of them all, of course, 'cause Austin's got more bands, amazing talent, a charity angle, and an actual Nick Lowe tribute band. Plus, we are darned good-looking. More info on Yep Roc and the reissue at: www.yeproc.com

I’m a media person—what can you do for me?

Do you need your car washed? Seriously though, we’re happy to provide folks from the various bands for interviews, on-air chats, live music, etc. They don't call Nick Lowe a cult hero for nothing—these musicians LOVE to talk about Nick's music and what it's meant to them. And once your audience hears it, they'll love it too, guaranteed.

What's this about a charity angle?

That's right, every $5 donation at the door will support Anthropos Arts, which brings Austin's hottest jazz and Latin musicians into Title I public schools to offer free workshops, individualized lessons, and other music-education programs. Learn more about Anthropos Arts at: www.anthropos.org.
