Scorpio Rising Singer Diagnosed With Breast Cancer; Donation Fund Set-Up

January 24, 2010 - Austin, TX Scorpio Rising singer, Dianne Whitehair (aka Madame Scorpio), was diagnosed with breast cancer on October 16, 2009. She underwent a mastectomy and removal of two lymph nodes on November 17, 2009. Scorpio Rising performed their last two shows for 2009 in October and are gearing up for their official SXSW showcase in March 2010. Whitehair is currently undergoing chemotherapy and plans to perform at the band's 2010 SXSW showcase "even if I have to be carried onto the stage."

Though she does have insurance, the combination of insurance co-pays, unexpected surgeries, and complications from a root canal procedure have become a significant financial burden. A PayPal donation account has been set-up in an effort to help her family address these expenses. With three more chemotherapy treatments and at least two more surgeries ahead, your donation of any amount is greatly appreciated. 100% of all donated funds go directly to Madame Scorpio.

A benefit show will be held Friday, February 26, 2010 at 6:00pm to 2:00am at the Chupacabra Cantina in Austin, Texas, featuring Stupid Drama, Scary Mary, Baby Got Bacteria.
