Salsón is a monster (both in size and musical talent) 10-piece band that hails from the San Jose / Monterey region of California, just south of the Bay Area. The group specializes in 1960s and 70s era "New York style Salsa dura," a more rhythmic, percussive variety of Salsa music than the later more 'romantic' shift in the genre. Salsón regularly performs at venues including Club Milano, Cafe Cocomo, Agenda Lounge, and the Yerba Buena Social Club, and appeared at the 2012 San Francisco International Salsa Congress. With instrumentation including congas, timbales, bongos, bass guitar, piano, two trombones, tenor saxophone, and multiple vocalists, Salsón sets an energetic tone from their first downbeat until last call.
Scabsallover's smile is known to affect any woman he makes eye contact with, but instead of showcasing this with confidence on stage, he opts to lock himself away in his bedroom studio, sculpting muscular sound textures with a quirky sense of humor daily, often only getting three hours of sleep a night. He prides himself on his ability to knock out a single EP's worth of music in a single recording session. He attributes this to his time at the Los Angeles Recording School, where he happened to cram two years worth of studies into nine months, graduating at the age of 19. Now, 24, the live-audio engineer prepares to make his splash in the independent EDM/Glitch-hop scene with the second volume in his Robotic Lion Snapping Turtle series.

Bob Schneider is a fixture on the Austin scene, having kicked around for years in various bands before embarking on a solo career in 1999. Born in Michigan and partially raised in Germany, he dropped out of the University of Texas at El Paso to front his first band, the funk and rap outfit Joe Rockhead. The band released three independent albums before disbanding immediately prior to signing with a major label. A stint with a jammy, slightly Phishy outfit called the Ugly Americans followed, which experienced some success as an opening act for the Dave Matthews Band. In 1997, Schneider went on to co-found the Scabs, where he made a further name for himself as a crotch-grabbing frontman. He then became a solo act in 1999, although performing at first under the band name Lonelyland. - from Bob's Facebook page
Scorpio Rising morphs 70's funk, 80's dance & 90's rave into a modern rock/dance party unlike anything you've seen. Their unique amalgam of edgy electronica/pop/rock and flamboyant live show is considered among the best in Austin and defies categorization, garnering #3 Goth Band and #8 DJ honors in the 2007 Austin Chronicle Music Poll.
"an energetic stage show"
- Jim Beal, San Antonio Express-News
Posit a band. It is refined, elegant, in racial make-up mixed. Chime chords from its organs of melody. The singer, watch as his face contorts, he emotes. In rhythm they are supreme. Tantalus himself, as he reached for his ne'er plucked fruit, could not frame a scene so achingly desirable. Serious Weapon, for such they are monikered.

One who prides herself on independence and decision-making over her career; Emma Shaka produced her album Who I Am, but also helped select her album artwork, mixed and mastered the songs, and manages the recording sessions. Charged with the spirit of rock and roll, She Craves delivers an undeniably captivating and addictive live show with the music to match. The foursome employs a unique style of up-tempo, driving rhythm as the foundation to their sound. It’s to the point, in your face rock, tangled with the right dose of intimate sincerity. Dig into She Craves to find that their spin on alt-rock is all at once energetic and reflective. Their message is clear: get it out, rock it out, be yourself, and have fun doing it. With 3 years of regional touring under their belt, the band shows no signs of slowing down a continuous touring schedule that takes them through Texas, Louisiana, and Oklahoma on a year round basis.
Static, the latest CD from She Craves, is an interactive adventure brought to life by a collaboration between She Craves and Austin based design firm Fireside Creative. The disk contains 5 songs that were recorded in Austin, Texas, at Jacketweather Studios with long time collaborator and producer, David Dreesen. She Craves wanted to give their fans more than just the music this time around. They wanted to show behind the scenes and give fans a glimpse into the recording process that was the creation of Static. The idea to make the interactive CD was born and so was the Suitcase Television, the launching pad for the interactive content and the basis for the disk's packaging. By clicking through the graphics, one realizes not only can they find videos, demo songs, pictures of the band, and lyrics, but they will unravel the story of the man who invented the Television Suitcase. It's mysterious and fun and there are many hidden gems to find. With slick, custom packaging as well, even the case itself becomes part of the experience. She Craves aimed to set themselves apart from other bands at their level, create a great rock record, and give their fans something to bite into. They succeed with their 3rd release, Static.

Guitarist Martin Junker began studying voice with singer Lioba Moia. But instead of continued vocal studies, in 2011 Martin dropped the lessons and the two began writing songs together. With songs in-hand, and joining forces with guitarist Gerd Strasdas, keyboardist Topher Micha, bassist Alex Bielefeld, and drummer Adrian Paciej, the six-member band adopted the moniker: Sidra.
Sidra sees itself as using the medium of pop music to narrate bittersweet life stories. They tell the tales woven by Martin and Lioba, setting them against a backdrop of bright, funky rhythm and catchy melody. To date, the band has released five singles, each with an accompanying YouTube-released video. Sidra is currently working on a new album, set to be released in late 2014.
Simple Thing lead singer/guitarist Bryan Dunn established himself by writing provocative songs while touring the Southwest with his former band, 3 Penny Opera. Bass guitarist David C. has recorded with both Cleopatra and Projekt Records and serves as Simple Thing’s primary producer and engineer. Johnny Hi-Fi not only sings harmony and plays guitar for Thing, but in his “spare time” fronts his own internationally recorded Asian-Brit pop group on Magic Stone Records (Taiwan). Finally, Wiley has been drumming since 6th grade and more recently worked in A&R for both Universal Music Group (FarmClub Records) and Coyote Music.
In New York City, fans can rock with Simple Thing at venues like The Village Underground, Luna Lounge and Le Bar Bat. The guys also pack the house at their annual homecoming performances in Austin, Texas.
Assembled in Brooklyn and raised in the clubs of the Greenwich Village, Simple Thing has quickly made a name for itself around the New York City music scene. The group’s addictive songs and energetic live shows have generated both a buzz and a sizeable following. The music, put simply, is guitar-driven pop rock, enhanced by compelling melodies and intelligent lyrics. Interpreted by four veteran musicians from different musical backgrounds, Simple Thing’s songs are at once fresh, unique and strangely familiar. Critics have begun to take notice of Simple Thing’s craft and they like what they hear:
“Thoughtful lyrics [that] evoke a different emotion with each song.”
- INSite Magazine, Austin, TX
“…very nice work with lovely hook-laden cuts.”
- The Musician’s Trade Journal
"Growl” named Track of the Day
"The hottest new band in the City"
- Melodic Syndrome Productions, New York, NY
A musician, singer, songwriter, artist and traveler, Matt Skinner follows the traditional path of the ‘poet and a one-man band’ mentality where he holds fast to artistic integrity and truth with each earned note. A native of the Big Bend of Texas, graced with a keen eye for detail and imagery and coupled with a powerful, cultivated tenor voice, Skinner commands any stage with a tender ferocity and presence that is spellbinding in its organic honesty and mercurial resonance.
Nestled in Portland, Oregon’s predominately white and hipster culture is dance rock band, The Slants. Rather than adopting the usual departure points of Portland’s music scene – alt-folk rock, shoegazer music, indie pop – The Slants took their influence from grabbing onto the corners of foundational 80s synth-pop music and blending it with modern dance rock sensibilities. They call this amalgamation of contagious, energetic, and danceable music “Chinatown Dance Rock.”
Emerging from the musical Mecca that is Austin, Texas, Sam Sliva and The Good are fast becoming an outfit to be reckoned with. Their sophomore effort …And the People Say finds Sam and the gang striding a new plane of refinement and tightening of their sound. Sliva’s writing is becoming at once more expansive and focused as a vision. Elements ranging from reggae to folk are brought together and funneled through Sliva’s alternative Americana apparatus to produce a range of handsomely crafted songs that stretch boundaries yet sound at home with one another. Apart from the well-executed cover of Ryan Adams’s “Excuse Me While I Break My Own Heart Tonight”, it has become more difficult to muster a list of artists that this new batch of songs share a kinship with. Already garnering thousands of fans through radio play, live shows, and social media outreach, …And the People Say is sure to expand that fan base and distinguish Sam Sliva & The Good as a unique and promising source of rock from the Lone Star State.
Born in West Palm Beach, FL, The Smith III are the children of Jamaican and American parents. They started to display the love for singing at an early age, with the oldest, Jalyka performing everywhere, modeling and acting. Jalyka's two younger brothers followed in their sister's footsteps, performing for anyone and everyone. Their parents, at first re-focusing the children on academics, eventually decided to support their childrens' obvious gift. In steps Chuck Hemann at Palm Beach Sound Studio, who honed the kids' musicianship. Their voices have grown thanks to their vocal coach, Mrs. Eileen Herzop-Basin. The Smith III are committed, determined, and love what they do. Their debut single, “Put a Stamp On It” dropped in Summer 2012 and was received well enough than the trio recorded their debut album Diamond In A Rock, produced by J-Sharpe. Their success has earned them a featured spot in Billboard Magazine's December 2012 issue, calling the album "inspiring and fun."

Trends and styles may change in music, but there are just some things that are timeless…like songwriting from the heart with ear-catching melodies and rich harmony vocals. The team of David Beck (a stage name as his real name is David Whitbeck) and Paul Cauthen has created Sons of Fathers, a band with a soaring, original sound that belies their young age. They have been compared to the Avett Brothers, The Byrds, and The Everly Brothers, albeit with an infusion of Texas grease. Beck and Cauthen came together when each was working on a solo project in San Marcos, Texas. Though the two had met casually, a chance encounter at Thompson’s Island in a park on the Blanco River led them to join forces.

Stanford Hazy is an innovative alternative rock group from Helsinki Finland. The band was born when three of the group’s core members Antti (guitar), Matti (vocals) and J-P (drums) decided to combine their creative forces by channeling it through the ever so popular medium of rock music. Close collaboration with Helsinki based rap artist Joona aka. “Meitsi Uljas” ultimately led him joining the group. A little while ago the band was also introduced by its fifth member when Mari (bass) joined the ride. From the get go the band has based it’s sound on the classic rock trinity of punchy drums, strong riff based electric guitar and catchy chorus driven vocals but still is not afraid to break out from the norm and experiment with exciting and different kind of soundscapes. Stanford Hazy relies first and foremost to creativity and the real joy of performing good sounding music to excited live audiences. Throughout the years Stanford Hazy has found it’s own unique voice and seemingly endless supply of new and fresh musical ideas.
Juliun Starks began his musical career early, performing in front of his large family during childhood. Studying trumpet and voice in school, Juliun competed at a high level while continuing to develop his own RnB/Soul sound. He performed his original song "Are You Lonely?" at the premier of the indie film The Secrets of Betsy and has since continued to post new songs on social media. Juliun regularly records both cover songs and originals which have tallied thousands of listens on Soundcloud, YouTube, and Reverbnation. Influenced by legends Luther Vandross and Jefferey Osborne, Juliun emulates their softer side while bringing to the table arrangements and interpretations that exhibit his background in musical theory. To date, Juliun has reached the heights of performing at the Texas Solo Artist Awards, having his cover of Drake's "Hold On We're Going Home" featured on straightdisrespect.com, and having been featuring on indiemusicreviews.net. But those milestones are merely the tip of the iceberg for Juliun Starks, whose future has only just begun.
Stasis, a four-piece rock outfit brings the basic elements of thriving rock, emotional melodies, and soaring choruses onto the scene. Stasis is the kind of band with songs which appeal to mass audiences. The group believes that rock music is built on hook-driven song writing, and that's nothing short of what they give.

Formed in 2013, StoneKracker is a hard rock and metal band hailing from Austin, TX. Their own brand of "solid, sexy, mean" sounds made their 2015 release The Book of Crazy a favorite on Internet radio, earning them sought after gig opportunities and top 30 or higher rankings around the world, including going to #1 in Austin, Texas metal on ReverbNation.
With their release of The Horror Show in 2016, the quartet has upped their game musically by incorporating more complicated arrangements and instrumentation to their already popular "southern fucking boogie metal" style.
As fate had it, this musician was given his first guitar at age fifteen after his dad ‘got lucky’ at the horses. By seventeen he was bashing out tunes in a heavy metal rock band and making a name for himself at pubs and festivals throughout the lower North Island of New Zealand. Over the years he developed a warmer, more laid back sound that eventually evolved into his newest direction, that could be described as Acoustica meets Electronica meets Pop.

Struc Supreme flows hard. Forged from the same Atlanta metal as ATL legends Outkast and T.I., Struc Supreme's sound embraces all that the Dirty South is known for but with lyrics that cut a little deeper. His genre-crossing influences are evident in the production: you can hear bits of Bobby Blue Bland melded into the flow of the arrangements. And not letting up on the bounce, Struc Supreme brings the groove and over-the-top brashness of Bobby Brown. His style has been dubbed "Supremium" because of the beats that are almost sing-song, with lyrics laid over the the top that are bulletproof in their intensity. Struc Supreme's latest album B.Y.O.B. - Be Your Own Boss is out now, available on iTunes.
When you think of great rock and roll, maybe a 12-string acoustic guitar is not the first thing that comes to mind. Years ago, Jimi Hendrix proved that idea was wrong. Now, Austin guitarist, vocalist and songwriter, Nathan Olivarez is doing the same thing with his unique style of powerful acoustic rock. Stupid Drama, Olivarez's band, is like an ever-changing force where great musicians from all over come to play. The constant growth, coupled with Olivarez's skills and passion, make Stupid Drama a band not to be missed and Olivarez a performer with a distinctive style that you have to see live.

The Surlys are a hard rock trio formed in April 2013, often compared to the Runaways and the Ramones but with diverse early-punk influences. They've played at festivals like the annual Pocket FishRmen Fish Fry, the Punk Rock Olympics, and Stench Fest. Club gigs have included the Lost Well, Badlands, Hole in the Wall, Spiderhouse Ballroom, Gypsy Lounge, the Gatsby, the Longbranch Inn, Casino Southside Lounge, the 04 Lounge, the Big Star Bar (Houston), the Mix (San Antonio) and some high-falootin' punk rock house parties.
With a craft reminiscent of her forebears-Joni Mitchell, Kate Bush, Stevie Nicks and Tori Amos, among others-SW has taken her impressive, rangy vocal technique, her top-notch piano playing, her gift for heartfelt melodies on honest, unsparing lyrics and her fiendishly talented band to form a substantial catalogue of songs, available on two independently released albums.
Mitch Webb and his group The Swindles are familiar names on the local music scene, and denizens of Casbeers, Sam’s Burger Joint, and other music-oriented watering holes are probably aware of some recent accomplishments. Webb and his talented brace of “garage rockers” have released a CD titled Lonely Kind, as well as a CD/DVD called Last Band at Taco Land, a fitting and final tribute to murdered Taco Land owner Ram Ayala. The CD/DVD has Ram admirers buzzing from St. Mary’s Street to all points north, for Webb’s Swindles were, in fact, the last band to play the now-shuttered alternative music skull orchard down by the upper reaches of the San Antonio river (close to the old Pearl Brewery). Webb is a talented singer and songwriter who can fit into categories ranging from Americana to punk-style rock, and many of us know that Swindles guitarist Joe Reyes is a Grammy winner who has played with Lara Y Reyes, Buttercup, and Michael Morales, to name a few. And volumes could be written about the other Swindles who include Dave Wasson on guitar, Paul Ward on drums, and Odie on bass.
After being featured on MTV’s The Real World, the independent film Sexless and college radio stations all across Texas, Sybil was asked to contribute a cover of the Scorpions' classic "Wind of Change" to the award winning film In Search of a Midnight Kiss set for worldwide distribution through IFC Entertainment and Vertigo Films in the summer of 2009. And if that wasn’t enough, Sybil released their debut album, Cold Drink, in April of the same year.
Sybil is: Robert Murphy, vocals/rhythm guitar; Ryan Craig, drums; Gordon Kahan, lead guitar; Billy Murphy, vocals/harmonica; Rob Sides, bass.
