Alonzo Reid

Genre: Soul/R&B
Hometown: Montgomery, AL

Alonzo "Mr. Undercover Freak" Reid earns his moniker by writing and performing a mature brand of R&B born of the tradition pioneered by the late Marvin Sease, for whom Alonzo played drums and percussion for 14 years. Alonzo began playing drums at age 6, and grew up to play behind gospel legends Shirley Caesar, Dorothy Norwood, The Mighty Clouds of Joy, The Soul Stirrers, and Aretha Franklin. Adding to an already impressive career, Alonzo also played with Bobby Womack and Mel Waiters.

In 2011, Alonzo released his debut (and namesake) album Undercover Freak. Supporting the album, his live shows quickly became labeled "for grown folks only" and "rated X" due to his songs' racy nature. Alonzo is now supporting two new singles and plans to continue perform in and around his home state of Alabama.
