Juliana Murphy

Genre: Folk
Hometown: Austin, TX

Juliana Murphy was raised with the sounds of Cuban mambos, Joan Baez, and Otis Redding flowing from her parents' hi-fi. Her large family gatherings frequently evolved into choruses of traditional country, gospel, folk, and standards (both in English and Spanish). Though too shy to join in, she soaked in every ounce of her rich musical heritage. Her first onstage exposure came as the singer and rhythm guitarist for the Nick Lowe tribute band, The Lowelies. Now, Juliana Murphy brings to stages around Austin her stellar voice and songwriting, complemented with her selection of cover songs from across the many genres present throughout her life. From Patti Griffin to Bessie Smith to Johnny Cash, Juliana's sets have drawn consistent praise.
