You can learn a lot about an artist from their natural surroundings. In the case of Los Angeles native Nate Franchesco, his home is sparsely decorated--functional furniture but no opulent wrap-around sofas or 70" 8K MicroLED televisions. What you do see are multitudes of instruments and recording gear. Guitars upon guitars and keyboards and mandolins and drums and mixing boards, effects, and of course an impressive network of accompanying cords and cables. His walls are an homage to his musical icons--from Hendrix and Sinatra to a Mötley Crüe Shout At The Devil-era poster. And for good measure, there lies a classic Ninentdo NES with a nice complement of game cartridges, just to the side of one of his several keyboards. His environment captures Franchesco's essence as a multi-instrumentalist phenom whose style and influences span decades and genres, embodying aspects of each.
Digging in to Franchesco's discography you'll hear jazz, metal, blues, classical, surf, flamenco and even a little country. He's so well versed, that amongst his professional services he offers to cover any song you request. Go ahead, challenge him and see! Rounding out his Renaissance Man talent level and wide array of abilities Nate is also a physical trainer, certified by the American Council on Exercise. And there's an endorsement by Kononykheen Guitars thrown in there just for good measure.
But his story isn't one of flawless licks and natural physical gifts. Nate went through ACDF surgery a while back: Anterior Cervical Discectomy & Fusion, which can involved months of slow, measured recovery. The experience has left him focused and grateful for all he has. And for music fans, we're grateful that he has been able to continue to live and breathe his passion for writing, recording, and performing his music. "Recovery from...spinal surgery gave me a deeper perspective — I realized that true creative energy doesn’t come from chasing trends, it comes from surviving, evolving, and expressing."
"Music has no boundaries—it’s a universal voice."
- Nate Franchesco
Culturally, Franchesco is an example of evolving and expressing himself. He explains that his Filipino heritage is rooted more in singing than instrumentation. "I’m just really going against the grain of what they want and doing things my own way."
"I taught myself by ear, which helped me internalize rhythm, melody, and phrasing in a deeply intuitive way. As I explored more instruments like drums, bass, piano, mandolin, and harmonica, I realized I wasn't just drawn to one sound—I was drawn to the language of music in all its forms. That thirst to fully understand and express music from multiple angles is what launched this journey for me." This broad approach explains clearly how Franchesco's approach to music hasn't simply focused on a single instrument, period, or genre.
His single "The Prelude," for example is more a classical/flamenco-styled piece. Originally written in 2014, he's released it through Spotify in 2025. And taking a completely different turn, "Club 440" is more of a dance/club track. Just as he approaches a venerable classical work, though, with his electronic music "Every note is deliberate, every groove is felt. It’s not just music—it’s a conversation I’m having with the listener, completely. Just without words." Changing gears entirely, his "Tightrope Swing" blends funk, jazz, and rock together into a tasty jazz-swing, channeling inspiration from the likes of Wes Montgomery and George Benson.
Nate Franchesco lives and breathes his musical passion, expressing himself honestly and thoroughly through a cornucopia of sounds, styles and instrumentation. You can delve into his music, lessons, and cover songs through his Instagram profile @nate_franchesco and Spotify profile.
