The Crazy Never Die

Genre: Rock
Hometown: Los Angeles, CA

Four human beings who use instruments of music to affect the world around them: this is The Crazy Never Die. The music is influenced by rock, but with cerebral lyrics, grand texture, the occasional orchestral intermingling, and an odd, genre-bending touch. The bands music and lyrics are meant to entertain but also inspire thought and provoke questions. Therefore they found it suitable to take their name from an author with similar aspirations, Hunter S. Thompson, who once said, “Some may never live but the crazy never die.” TCND has played in and around Los Angeles for the last three years, and now has a new album called, Release the Ground.

Influences: Smashing Pumpkins, Faith No More, Dax Riggs, Nine Inch Nails, Pink Floyd, Queens of the Stone Age, Godspeed You! Black Emperor, Tool, Nirvana, Tomahawk, A Perfect Circle, David Bowie, Radiohead, Soul Coughing

A quote from Vanessa Wheeler from the band Leo Leo: "A nerdy, classical music-meets-rock sensibility is a big part of the band's ethos; their sound is its own weird blend of rock (vox/guitars/bass/keys/drums) with all their fringe influences coloring the end result."

Band Members:

Thomas Witwer: guitar/vocals
Alan Toka: drums
Kyle Rod: bass
Christine Gengaro: keyboard/backing vocals

Bonus band fun fact: Dr. Christine Gengaro is a college professor and author of a book about music in the films of Stanley Kubrick: Listening to Stanley Kubrick: The Music in His Films (Scarecrow Press, 2013)
