3 Penny Opera, an Austin-based alt-rock band from the late 90s, earned a reputation as a strong performing band through its residencies at Austin’s legendary club, Steamboat. The group’s debut CD "ten pieces for voice, strings and percussion" was released in 1999 to critical praise and brisk sales, selling out its initial 1,000-copy pressing.Last December, several members of the band along with a few special guests assembled for a one-night-only "reunion" show, the success of which calls for an encore---so The Townsend welcomes 3 Penny Opera to their intimate performance space for a 3 Penny Opera encore performance!
