Modern Folk duo Dan & Faith announce the release of their new single "My Name Is George," a poignant acoustic number about transgender acceptance that has already tugged at heartstrings across the country. The track appears on their acclaimed album "Who We Are," released in October 2024.

In just over 3 minutes, the track relays a transgender boy's journey, expertly crafted to model acceptance and empathy. Written during the COVID lockdown, the song resonated widely amidst ongoing legislative attacks on transgender rights in multiple states.

"We hope this song inspires parents to love their kids unconditionally, and for people to support trans friends and family members," the duo shares. "Trans folks already have a tough road ahead of them, and in the current political climate, they are undergoing active persecution across the country."

The duo, who describe their music as "dream-inspired folk," craft stripped down songs rooted in tight, interwoven vocal harmonies supported by varied instrumentation. In live performances, they dive even deeper into the storytelling aspects of their songs, creating an immersive experience that takes "My Name Is George" to new terrain.

The single has earned finalist status in the 2024 South Florida Folk and Acoustic Music Festival Songwriting Contest, with one judge declaring it "the best song in the contest" and a festival co-director calling it "the best song she heard at the festival" across all performers and stages.

Produced by international troubadour Joe Jencks and engineered by Mark Dann of Woodstock, NY, the track was built on a rock solid foundation of industry veterans. It was additionally mastered by Grammy-winning engineer Charlie Pilzer at Tonal Park Studios. The album "Who We Are" has received significant critical acclaim, with Nick Noble of WICN (Worcester Public Radio) calling it "a triumph" and naming it one of the year's six superb new releases by New England-based artists. Veteran music critic Bill Copeland hailed it as a "flavorful masterpiece" that is "loaded with a lot of fun, folksy sing-along music."
