Minnesota-based heavy metal project Matyrker will release its third full-length album, Omni, on August 28, 2026, bringing to fruition a concept that creator Matt first envisioned more than a decade ago. Coyote Music has taken an in-depth look at the album in its review of Matyrker’s Omni.

Originally conceived in 2012, Omni represents years of songwriting, experimentation, studio development, and evolution. Every aspect of the album was handled by Matt himself, from writing and performing to recording, mixing, and mastering. Songs that had remained in the Matyrker vault for nearly a decade were finally given their proper form as Matt continued building his home studio and developing the skills and resources necessary to realize the project.

At its core, Omni explores the different pillars of existence. Each song is dedicated to an aspect of being—including concepts such as mind, body, reality, and time—with the album ultimately culminating in its title track, representing “all and everything.” The record also incorporates synesthesia into its conceptual design, with every song assigned a corresponding color intended to complement its emotional and thematic character. While Matt has intentionally kept the precise meanings elusive, listeners will find occasional connections to science fiction and fantasy woven throughout the album.

Musically, Omni moves freely between crushing metal, atmospheric passages, intricate rhythmic interplay, melodic vocals, and cinematic textures. The album also expands beyond Matyrker’s traditionally solo format with guest contributions from artists who bring their own voices to the project. Christina Rotondo, who previously appeared on three songs from Matyrker’s 2018 debut Emanation, returns for Omni, joined by Ohio-based solo artist Adam Neill and Minnesota musician Andy Pritchard of Empty My Lungs. Pritchard appears on “Coagulation,” while Rotondo and Neill contribute to “Inoculate//Cortexiphan.”

Omni arrives as the latest chapter in a project that began as a solo endeavor in 2013. Matyrker released its debut full-length, Emanation, in 2018, led by the single “Alchemy,” which has accumulated more than 150,000 YouTube views. In 2022, the standalone single “Version Clear” was featured in the video game Cyberpunk. The sophomore album Momentum followed in 2023, with a 24-track deluxe edition released the following year. Matyrker’s first-ever EP, The Obscurial, arrived in late 2025.

With Omni, years of accumulated material and experience finally converge into the record Matt has spent much of his adult life preparing to make. And while the album remains firmly rooted in the DIY philosophy that has defined Matyrker from the beginning, its release also marks the beginning of the project’s next phase: transitioning from a one-person studio project into a full-fledged live band. The musicians are already lined up. Now, after 14 years of building toward Omni, Matyrker is ready to take the music to the stage.
