With much well-deserved ado, John Keenan's third album Lines On My Face will be released on all major streaming platforms on June 27, 2024. The songs he's written, recorded, and collaborated on for this record embrace his influences including Dr. John but come across with the wisdom of a more plaintive songwriter of the ilk of Townes Van Zandt. By virtue of the album's title you know Keenan's got some years in his rearview mirror, but the result is a collection of songs that benefits from the wisdom and experience of his life's journey.
Hailing from Scotland, Keenan tapped producer Peter "Ren" Renfree who worked from his 8 South Studio located near the famous White Sands of New Mexico. Renfree and Keenan channeled the singer's early crooner influences including Sinatra, blending in much of the singer/songwriter influence of stalwarts like Steve Earle. Keenan's album doesn't flash with production magic--the duo worked together to capture special moments in time, rather than polishing lackluster efforts. The songs and tried, true and genuine, from start to finish.
The record's musical lineup is pretty straightforward:
John Keenan: Acoustic and Electric Guitars, Lead Vocal
Allen Chadwick: Drums
Peter "Ren" Renfree: Acoustic and Electric Guitars, Keyboards, Bass and Backing vocals
Mike Harwood: Electric Guitars (www.mikeharwood.co.uk)
Andi Renfree: Backing VX
