Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to common questions.

Do you guarantee coverage?

Yes. When you purchase one of Coyote Music's promotional services, your selected coverage is guaranteed.

Every submission is still reviewed personally to ensure it's appropriate for the site and presented in a way that's consistent with Coyote Music's editorial standards. We don't publish AI-generated content, copied press releases, or misleading information.

Yes, when you purchase one of our promotional services. Every submission is still reviewed personally to ensure it's an appropriate fit for Coyote Music.

What genres do you cover?

Coyote Music has always focused on independent music, regardless of genre. You can check out our Genres page for examples.

While rock, alternative, punk, Americana, folk, indie, metal, and singer-songwriter artists make up much of our archive, we've featured artists from across the musical spectrum. If you're passionate about your music and believe it's a good fit for our audience, we'd love to hear from you.

How long does publication take?

Most coverage is published within a few business days after we receive everything we need. Interview turnaround depends on the timing of returned written responses. And video interviews depend on our mutually scheduling an interview, and then usually 2-3 weeks for production

If you're promoting a release with a specific launch date or announcing a tour, let us know your timeline and we'll do our best to coordinate publication accordingly.

Can I purchase multiple services?

Absolutely.

Many artists combine services for a more complete promotional campaign—for example, pairing a music review with an interview, news announcement, artist profile, or music video feature.

If you're not sure which combination makes the most sense, we're happy to help you decide.

Can I choose my publication date?

If you're promoting a new release, tour, or announcement, just let us know your preferred publication date when you submit your materials. We'll do our best to coordinate coverage with your schedule whenever possible.

Do you work with artists outside the United States?

Absolutely. Coyote Music regularly features independent artists from around the world. Music is a global language, and we're always excited to discover new artists regardless of where they're based.

Do you write every review personally?

Yes.

Every review, interview, and editorial feature published on Coyote Music is personally written or edited by founder Wiley Koepp. With more than 30 years of experience as a musician, songwriter, promoter, interviewer, reviewer, and former major-label A&R representative, Wiley brings both industry experience and a musician's perspective to every piece published on the site.

Coyote Music also works with a small group of contributing writers from time to time. Each brings a background in music, the music industry, or both, and every piece is reviewed and edited to ensure it meets Coyote Music's editorial standards.

How do I get started?

To help me get started, include as much of the following as you can:

  • Artist or band name
  • Release title
  • Release date (if applicable)
  • Streaming or download link
  • Press release or artist bio
  • Photos or artwork (optional)
  • Links to your website and social media

If you're not sure which service is the best fit, don't worry. Just tell me about your release and your goals, and I'll help you choose the right option.

Will my review be positive?

Every review published on Coyote Music is honest, thoughtful, and written with respect for the artist and the creative process.

The goal isn't to write "gotcha" reviews or tear musicians down. If a release has areas that could be stronger, I'll address them constructively while focusing on what makes the music unique. Likewise, I won't exaggerate praise simply because it's expected.

Ultimately, every review is written to give readers a fair impression of the music while treating the artist with professionalism.
