Boston's B57 has brought their Brazilian rock sound to the heart of New England. As their sound grows in 2014, they are poised to have a breakthrough year in 2015.

While Sao Paolo has attracted futbol fans from around the world for the 2014 World Cup, Boston lured away one of Brazil's most promising young rock bands. Guitarist Luigi Rock says of the band's relocation, "We came [to the U.S.] with our families because we love this country and want new opportunities."

B57 has already created a number of opportunities of their own. Their powerful performances and debut album Contagem Regressiva has done nothing but garner critical acclaim.

The awards they've amassed include the Brazilian International Press Award, a Talento Brazil television appearance, and in their current hometown earned a Best of Boston award in 2012.

Along with the acclaim, the band has proven its mettle onstage, earning opening slots with Brazilian heavyweights including Multi Latin Grammy Nominee O Rappa, Jota Quest, Charlie Brown Jr., CPM22, Natiruts, and the multi-platinum Skank.

B57 brings an intense live show to the stage, commanding the attention of audiences regardless of genre of the headlining act. They've pleased crowds waiting for reggae, pop, rock, and even Brazilian blue-eyed soul.

New to the band is lead singer Gui Mogames. He replaces 9-year band veteran, Vinny. With Gui at the helm, B57 looks ahead to an ambitious run toward achieving notoriety in America.

To date, they have performed across New England at venues including Club Lido (Revere, Massachusetts), Underbar (Boston), Tuxedo Junction (Connecticut), and El Pastor in Newark, New Jersey.

Looking ahead, B57 is lining up some impressive shows. You, along with thousands of others, can catch them in September at Boston's Brazilian Day festivities. The group is planning to record their follow-up to Contagem Regressiva and tape a new video.

When asked about the band's strengths, whether they were more of a studio project or preferred performing live, Rock said, "I believe 50% of each—we love to play live...people get involved with the band each time we play," but hinted at the importance of their recordings. Once fans leave the club, they need to have strong versions of your songs that are fun to listen to over and over.
