Building on the momentum of a momentous performance, Erlich releases a slew of singles as he positions his band to tour extensively throughout the next year.
Other than Infected Mushroom's EDM sound and the Indie/Pop leanings of Lola Marsh, I'd not previously been very familiar with artists hailing from Tel Aviv. Cue Eyal Erlich appearing in my Inbox in September of this year. Hitting 'play' on each of the Four Singles From Levontin certainly got my attention.

Those tracks frankly blew me away. What was this sound that infused bits and pieces of Thom Yorke and Jeff Buckley with traditional Israeli melodies? It was energetic like Costello, traces of punk, and what kept hitting me square in the feels was the mix of impressive musicianship with the humanity of not trying to be perfect.
You can see and hear in the videos of "Already In" and "Sentimental Magic Cape" that Erlich and his band are talented, well-rehearsed, and my most prized trait: human. They play their songs with the freedom of a jazz quartet, while also paying attention to detail as if they were a tight pop act ripping 3 minute pieces of radio candy.
It has been interesting to witness from literally across the world Erlich dropping individual tracks from his Levontin set. But what is even more compelling to me is that the plans are in the works for heading into the studio, where Erlich has hinted that "more instruments and voicings will be used." I mean, it sounds great as a four piece. But you can tell there is more meat on this bone--these songs offer potential for longer instrumental journeys, emotional intros and outro, and POPS of the choruses that are difficult to achieve from a 4-piece band in a small club.
Beyond the slated recording and album release are the tour dates. Erlich shares that "we're starting to plan touring abroad next year." I don't know if he'll make it stateside but in that corner of the world it's not a monumental task to incorporate some European dates as long as you're traversing the Middle East. I advise, nay implore you to keep your eyes open for Eyal Erlich's 2025 tour dates. You should go follow him now @eyalerlichmusic on Instagram and go ahead and give the band a follow on Spotify to see if they release more Levontin singles, and then be sure to watch for the studio album once it's announced.
