Born from the solitude of his home studio, Δƒ's music exists as a pure form of emotional expression passed through a filter of musical composition.
Citing Buckethead, Rush, and Yvette Young as influences, a hooded guitar phenom known simply as Δƒ (Delta F) has begun to make a name for himself. Forged through years of performing in bands, 2025 has found him thriving in his home studio, writing music for perhaps the most noble reason: pure self expression. He describes his studio/home as being "built to capture fleeting moments with clarity, warmth, and intention."
I want my music to be a reminder that vulnerability is a strength.
My first listen to Δƒ took me aback. In my review of his eponymous new album, I likened it to my first listen to Vai's Passion and Warfare. But Δƒ's sound embodies so much nuance and wisdom, I also cannot help but think of a Jeff Beck live show where you see a guitar not so much being played as seeming to sing.
Don't get me wrong. I'm not suggesting that Δƒ is "as good as" Vai or Beck, or anyone else for that matter. Long ago I gave up the notion of comparisons or Top 10 lists of the best bands or musicians. That sort of writing is purely clickbait and fodder for silly playground arguments. Instead, I appreciate that when listening to Δƒ you can hear moments and bits and pieces of a wide array of influences, melded together with original thought and emotion.
And it is emotion that seems to drive Δƒ to pursue his craft. In a recent interview with RGM he explains, "I want my music to be a reminder that vulnerability is a strength. Every note I play is meant to create a space where listeners can sit with their emotions, whether that’s pain, hope, or something in between, and know they’re not alone in it." Similarly, he shares short phrases on the YouTube version of his latest album that help explain the feelings behind each track. In his words, there exists an urge within himself for others to realize their own worth and importance. Describing "Room For Me," he dedicates the song to "those who never quite fit. For the masked, the misunderstood, the ones still waiting to be welcomed as they are."
If you’re listening to my music, know this: you matter. Even if you feel invisible, you’re not alone.
This connectivity with the human spirit and focus on both self-worth and a concern for others is not something typically seen across the music industry. By nature, it is a business where the goal has been to pull from artists not so much their art, as any shred of creativity that can sell an album or a single. But when you remove that motive, as Δƒ has, you get the original sheer beauty that inspires humans to produce their art and share their raw emotions with the rest of humanity.
What I urge you to do as a music aficionado is to take a moment--an hour, maybe an afternoon or evening--and listen to Δƒ. See if you 'get it'. The style and performance may or may not be your cup of tea. Certainly not everyone is suited for guitar instrumentals. But try it anyway and do so with a clear and open mind. See if you feel, yourself, the non-verbal messages being poured into each song. Take your journey across whichever platform you see fit, beginning at thedeltaf.com.
