Gorgeous. Rejuvenating. Fulfilling. These words arise in my soul as "Glimmer," the opening track of According to the Moon, fills the room. I'm not so much reviewing an album as I am witnessing spiritually energizing sounds wash across my home. New Age artist Cheryl B. Engelhardt and producer/ambient artist GEM Auset have joined forces to create a sonic experience akin to saging one's living space, except that the space in this case lies within each listener.

Art Daily put it succinctly, that "The New Age album of the year has revealed itself." And Vents Magazine frames According to the Moon as "more than just an album...a reflection of life's complexities and a celebration of the strength found in contrasts."

Sonically, Engelhardt and Auset bring together the soft texture of an airy chorale with touches of semi-percussive emphases that offer just enough of a pulse to give the album its visceral momentum. A piano dances around "Equinox," a violin sings in "Betwixt," "Eclipse" brings a pulsing bass to life at the album's conclusion.

According to the Moon is a meditation of sound. A cleansing of stress from your mind. An opportunity to connect with the part of yourself that you may not have encountered in far too long. Do yourself a favor and listen to the album. Immerse yourself in it and allow it to flow through you. Appreciate the intention within each song. And if you find that it has affected you, take the time to explore further into the artists. Begin your journey at cbemusic.com/attm.
