Track listing: Age of Rage
Something about the guitar tone said "Tom Morello" to me. Add to that the song's title includes "Rage" and...nah, Waking Stone's newest single isn't a RATM tribute or knock-off but you can clearly hear some inspiration and influence in the song's vibe.
"Age of Rage" is the 7th of 10 singles from Waking Stone's full-length record entitled "Still Living in War." That and more info is in the press release announcing the song's drop across the streaming universe.
There's no hiding the anti-war sentiment. War is hell and Waking Stone has plenty to say about it! Based in Washington, DC, the husband/wife duo of vocalist Ashley Cash and multi-instrumentalist Jim Cash exist in the political belly of the American beast that continues to pour billions annually into the war machine.
Beyond the song's message is a performance that should not be lost amidst the rage. Ashley's voice fucking soars, culminating in some screams toward the song's end that would likely earn an approving nod from fellow peace-seeking powerhouse female singer, Grace Slick. Another prime influence in the arrangement and performance throughout "Age of Rage."
Jim and Ashley are once again absolutely locked in. You can hear in "Age of Rage" as in much of their discography that they know exactly what they want to accomplish in each track. Jim lays down the foundation through the verses and chorus, letting loose with his solos but keeping the musical dynamic between the two constantly complementary.
