Bend In The Middle is the fourth album from Boulder-based singer/songwriter Jeremy Dion. The full-length record is slated for release on October 18, 2024. Much like the winds coming down from the Rocky Mountains, Bend In The Middle is an absolute breath of fresh air. The melodies are light and playful, the musicianship gentle with a crystalline clarity across the brightly toned guitars, mandolin, and fiddle. His bio mentions influences including John Denver and Jerry Garcia but there's also a healthy dose of the sincerity and authenticity of early Kenny Loggins.

Music is a chance to tell stories of pain and beauty. I want my songs to make people feel something unexpected.

Dion's background as a therapist comes through in his lyrics--not preaching how to be a better you but rather presenting relatable, though-provoking and introspective stories. The record is sweet. There's a hope in the sound, almost a childlike aspect of bright-eyed discovery (particularly in "Avery," a song about his daughter). But lyrically, Dion conveys a wisdom of lessons learned through years of mistakes and successes--his own and undoubtedly some from years of listening to the trials and tribulations of others.

Some of the youthful vibrance of Dion's sound stems from his pursuit of writing and recording children's music. His last two kid's music videos on YouTube have earned over 50,000 views in the past month alone! But Bend In The Middle is as mature as it is playful. The title track exemplifies the need for humankind to work on our issues by starting within ourselves. "So caught up in everybody else and how they’re living (wrong!), When everything relevant occurs within."
