In October 2024 we reviewed mentalEscape's album Upgrade. But since then--and this hardly seems possible--they've release FOUR 10-song albums. This is proliferation at Prince-like levels! The latest of these releases is the brand new Bizarre Behavior. Sarajevo-raised producer Mirza Causevic once again blends all sorts of genres together creating an ambitious sound with something for fans of edgier music ranging from Rave to Metal, Trip-Hop to Hip-Hop.

"Freaks of the Night" blends trippy tracks with edgy rapped rhymes. "Shoot Your Shot" carries on this vibe with a little more EDM influence on the production side, but the groove still finds its roots in Hip-Hop. Where the first change-up happens is the drop of track number 4: "Welcome to the Nightmare (I Am Terror)." Holy shit, this video! Pennywise doesn't hold a candle to the AI-generated slew of murderous clowns staring you down with all of the menace and evil to be had. Very NIN-meets-Ministry, injected with the dark soul of Wes Craven.

"Break" touches on melodies reminiscent of Balkan folk songs with a Rihanna-esque female lead vocal. The synths in "Coil" conjure a dystopian feel with a hardcore vocal delivery and drum-and-bass backbeat built to shake the plaster off your walls. That soul-shaking 808 continues through "Keep the Pill Under the Tongue" and the closing track "No More Worries."
