When award-winning Nashville artist Robert Abernathy and Alabama's Female Artist of the Year (2021 and 2025) Skylar Wallace joined forces, they shot straight from the hip naming the project Rob-Sky and the Anthem. Their collaboration on the 10-track album Boots on Fire is essentially one Country anthem after another. Their blend of Classic Country attitude with a modern, polished Nashville sound gives fans one helluva soundtrack for the Summer of '26.
The title track "Boots on Fire" along with its accompanying video sets the tone: a packed club, crowd movin' along with Skylar's "to the left, to the left, to the right to the right, spin around and drop it down" and all hands reach skyward when the chorus kicks in. It's just the song for that moment of newly found freedom, enjoying a night on the town.
There's a lotta great material for those navigating post-breakup life. "Break-Up Make-Up" and the ballad "Hurts That It Don't Hurt" sure take me to those times when a strong melody and knowing lyric helped to get through the pain.
The pair swap lead vocals, with Rob delivering an emotional tale in "Glad I Came In Last"--sort of an "Unanswered Prayers" vibe, where despite what we may want in the moment, all too often things work out for the best in the long run.
Where Rob-Sky get my full buy-in is in their vocal harmonies. When done really well, in my humble opinion, killer harmonies are what make a good record great. And there's plenty of video out there to know this ain't a situation where post-production autotune pretties it up. Both Abernathy and Wallace can flat out SING.
