Track listing: Doggy

What an enjoyable delight! "Doggy" is the fifth single from Basel, Switzerland based retro-swing group Luna & the Gents. The song is a playful ode to man's best friend--in this case a sweet poodle who assumes the identity of a wolf. The pooch's loud, imposing behavior understandably cause havoc for our poor narrator/owner. Unlike the frivolity of the lyrics, however, the band is laser-focused with no fooling around. The band's bio lays it all out there: "All songs are recorded live in-studio, without the use of artificial intelligence or modern production aids such as plugins and samples...made exclusively with real instruments and classic studio technology – for a genuine, timeless sound."

You can hear the sincerity and talent across the entire line-up in another single, "Je Ne Peux Pas T'Oublier." The players know what they're doing and vocalist Evelyne Péquignot's velvety voice brings it altogether in one impressive package. As an ensemble, they've found a sweet spot between merely playing music and entertaining a whole new worldwide audience. A peek over at their YouTube profile shows their creativity has turned tens of thousands of heads in their direction. "Doggy" itself has an adorable lyric video, and no one can deny the virality of pet videos.
