Last summer we reviewed  "Sometimes I Cry" by Los Angeles based Christian Country singer Drew Faith. And the summer before that we reviewed "God of Wonders," the title track from Faith's full-length album slated to drop May 29, 2025. At the forefront of both tracks is Faith's impressive full-bodied baritone voice--booming and richly authentic, conveying his lyrical passion. And at the forefront of those lyrics you'll find an unwavering faith in God and the Holy Spirit.

Something I've loved about writing reviews for the past few decades is coming across a great artist in a genre that I'm not typically into. I'm not a huge Death Metal fan. And while I own my share of Garth Brooks & George Strait albums, Country music isn't my go-to. Same goes with Christian Music, generally speaking. But nothing makes me happier than when I hear a new (to me) artist in one of these genres who come across undeniable with respect to their talent and passion. You can just hear it. Drew Faith is one of those artists for me over these past couple years. So sitting down with all 12 tracks from God of Wonders is a joy. By the time the gospel singers belt out their parts in track 4, "House of the Lord," I'm sold!

Drew Faith's voice brings to my mind a couple o' legends. He leans hard into his Country twang in similar fashion to George Jones. His crooning, yearning style also harkens back to Conway Twitty's unmistakable vocal lilting. But the beauty in God of Wonders isn't just a singer in front of karaoke tracks. The album's songwriting and production add to its power. Stellar musicianship, careful arrangements, and gorgeous added touches in the form of tasteful steel guitar and female backing vocalists really bring God of Wonders to life. 

There's a Nashville-level perfection in the record when it comes to the musicianship, composition, and execution. But as high a praise as I've given to Faith's voice, God of Wonders' strength is that the vocal isn't flawless. Nope--that's the beauty of it. Drew's delivery isn't tainted by post-production clean-up. You hear its natural airiness. Some of his inflections crack in just the right way--not a weakness in the vocal performance, at all. Quite the opposite. In a day and age when touring artists are being exposed by relying on backing tracks in search of a flawless concert, it's refreshing that you get to hear Drew Faith on the record and it's going to be exactly what you hear when he sings into a mic onstage. No frills, no fixes. Just a singer fueled by his faith, pouring out his message through his music. 

Drew Faith's God of Wonders is an album worth checking out. Maybe you're into Country, maybe you're not. Maybe you're not a Christian or Christian Music fan, or maybe you are. Regardless of any of that, though, God of Wonders is a solid album featuring a singer/songwriter who's putting his passion into his songs.
