Opening with "AUTOPILOT," the record begins with a bang! A little jangly guitar hints of Prince, while the speaker-filling backing tracks channel JT's studio magic working with Timbaland and Neptunes. It's fuckin' funky! "TALK" follows it up with a more club/EDM vibe--close your eyes and you're suddenly transported to Limelight at 4AM amidst the crowd's X-induced euphoria. "FRICTION" sells with its sexual energy while "AUTOMATIC" brings a full-on crowd chant surely to be a hook Grant will hear from crowds during his UK/Canada/US tour this Spring and Summer.
What's so undeniable about this record is how hard each song slaps. "MOVIE STAR" brings a runway attitude of a RuPaul's Drag Race Lip-Sync for Your Life throwdown. It's flamboyant and filled with perfection. The title track embodies the sass you'd imagine, given the title. Yes, Grant's young--but he knows what he is, what he wants, and he's got a good idea of just how to get it. Cue his recent billboard campaign for Hinge.
One-by-one, Grant has amassed a social media and streaming audience upwards of 2 million followers. These weren't bot-purchased or artificially culled, either. From his childhood fame, through his hours of trial-and-error learning to produce using Logic Pro, Knoche has earned his keep every step of the way.
