Track listing: In The Wake of Dreams
Washington DC's Waking Stone has just released the first of 10 singles off their forthcoming album entitled In The Wake of Dreams. The slew of singles will continue throughout 2025 into early 2026. Kicking off their newest effort since the debut album Still Living in War, "In The Wake of Dreams" signals big things to come from the group: big sound, big production, and more singer Ashley Cash's massive voice.
"In The Wake of Dreams" opens with a Floyd-esque grandeur--rich drum tones drenched in effects-laden guitar chords and methodical, melodic guitar leads. The primary chord progression offers glimpses of hope and opportunity amidst turbulent times, with a bridge section taking on an almost epic choral quality.
Guitarist and songwriter Jim Cash continues to lay a lush sonic landscape allowing Ashley's voice to soar appropriately. Waking Stone isn't a simple rock act with a powerful singer. The musical partnership builds on one another's strengths, forging a sound that really isn't like any other on the scene in the modern era. They're too "rock band" to be a standard duo, while also pinpoint focused on putting forth the best each Cash has to offer.
Adding to the beautiful blend within "In The Wake of Dreams" is Jon Andrew's delicate, pointed melodic lead guitar and Nik Hughes on drums, channeling the energy of Pink Floyd's Nick Mason with some arena-quality fills and booming backbeats.
As a lead-off single, Waking Stone has hit a homerun. Stay tuned to wakingstonemusic.com where you can follow on all major social and streaming platforms as the group builds on this solid cornerstone, revealing In The Wake of Dreams piece by piece throughout the next year.
Cast away, marooned on unsure ground
And the race of days, its pages wearing down
Oh moonlight ripples on the water and Summer fire flies
Songs of distant memory, the taste of hopeful times
The dark weighs deep and words get choked by time
Storms will pass and grief will ripen into rhyme
Who you are in the echo through the canyon walls
The wind seeds new life
Forged in the veiled black tide, forged in the eastern light
In the wake of dreams
Across the riverside, downstream we flow
Onto sweeter shores, sweeter shores
