Marco De Luca has been performing and recording music for decades, dating back to his part-original / part-Cure-cover band in the 1990s. Ever since, his musical style has traversed Experimental, New Wave, Pop, and even a more intimate Singer/Songwriter-centric album in 2012, Canzoni Inedite.

Now De Luca is back with La Stagione Decisiva, literally translating to "The Decisive Season." This 8-song collection brings keyboards to the forefront and varies between a more Punk take on New Wave--heard in the lead off tracks "Videospazzatura" ('Trash Video') and "Il Mostro" ('The Monster')--and a traditional sound a la early Smiths and Cure.

"Un Uomo Gentile" takes me back to some of my own bands early recordings, with its heavy reverb and raw tracking that puts the vocals well out in front with the instrumentation balance matching the preference of the artist more than perhaps an outside Producer figure.

I think there's an audience for La Stagione Decisiva. It's the not-cool cool kids in my junior high--they're the goths, the punks, the new wavers; the kids who cared more for lyrics and emotion conveyed in their music much more than its widespread acceptance.

Do you know that kid? Were you that kid? If so, take a listen to De Luca, La Stagione Decisiva, and more on his platforms: marcodeluca.bandcamp.comFacebookX @mdl71, and soundcloud.com/marco-de-luca.
