Message from the Future (Single)

by Frally

Track listing: Message from the Future

I can't help but draw a personal connection between the sound and emotion found in Frally's latest single "Message from the Future" and another song that hit me in a similar manner in the past. Back in 2000, I worked for Farmclub/Universal Records and we'd just released Fisher's "I Will Love You," an absolutely gorgeous song that reached #36 on Billboard's Adult Top 40. The two tracks aren't especially aligned melodically but they're they're both slow-tempo, emotionally powerful compositions sung by a female vocalist with a piano accompaniment. What they share to me is more in the raw beauty, lyrical emotion, and gorgeous soundscape of the chord progressions and melodies.

Frally is not a stranger to releasing songs that have a far-reaching impact. Her haunting reimagination of Cyndi Lauper's "Girls Just Want to Have Fun" has garnered more than a million streams. And her collaboration with Ozomatli's Asdru Sierra "Broken Town" featured in the TV series Banshee has outpaced the Lauper cover in popularity!

"Message from the Future" is the title track from the 6-song album that officially drops on March 28, 2025. The second single from the record, "Only You" released on March 20, brings with it an equally powerful emotional impact. In the vein of Gaga's "Shallow," there's an undeniable beauty and authenticity to Frally's music. Peaceful but not weak, pretty but not carbon-copy ballad arrangements and production.

Following up her "Girls" cover, Message from the Future contains its own cover: "American Girl" by Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers. A departure from the upbeat, high energy original, Frally presents the lyrics as a plaintive eulogy of sorts. Putting the song into a freeform tempo with each lyric lingering, Frally transforms the legendary hit in a way that I've certainly never heard it interpreted.

Message from the Future is worth your time. Frally is worth your attention. And her forthcoming release is worthy of a social share or traditional word-of-mouth spreading the news that her music should be on your next playlist. Dive deep into the world of Frally, starting at frallymusic.com.
