Track listing: More Than This

Suns Out is a powerful studio rock project from Austin-based guitarist Casey Stein. Like many, as the pandemic shutdowns began, Stein turned to his deep love for music as an outlet for the slew of emotions and challenges faced in the new reality.

What began as simply "getting back in touch with playing music" grew into Suns Out. And now, Stein has begun releasing fully produced singles. "We Should Be Together" dropped earlier this year but with "More Than This," Suns Out has found their way into heavier music with much more intensity to it.

Lyrically, "More Than This" describes the desire to break out of the daily doldrums, finding a deeper meaning and fulfillment from life. Call it an anthem for a happier life, perhaps? But musically, there's a weight and seriousness matched by the baritone-ranged vocal: a straight-ahead delivery that clearly speaks to the listener.

The focus of "More Than This," or at least its central figure, is the guitar. Compressed crunchy rhythm, chorus-heavy guitar melodies, and a gorgeous fuzzy ascensions toward the song's end. Really, layers upon layers of guitar tracks and build essentially a guitar-centric symphony before it's all said and done.
