Street Art is the new album by Inglewood-based RnB artist Herb Tha 4th. The title track sets the tone of the soulful, absolutely chill collection of 13 of Herb's originals. There's something reminiscent of the acoustic sensibility of a Raphael Saadiq / Tony! Toni! Toné! vibe. Anyone remember Lucy Pearl? But Herb Tha 4th is more, well, Inglewood.

Herb's arrangements leave a lot of space--simply guitar, bass, and a drum loop. Nothing fancy to distract from the smoothness of his voice and those laid back melodies. You get a little bit of a change-up with the funk flavor of "I Don't Need This Work" and "U Deserve Better" but overall this is a great album for when you want to decompress from the stresses of the daily grind. Bringing the album to a close is a beautiful tribute entitled "Aunt Joan." Piano, vocal, with just enough backbeat to give the song its shape.

What Herb Tha 4th does brilliantly with this album is channel the energy and musical history of his hometown. In a similar way that Snoop, Nate Dogg and others in the 90s sampled Soul classics to give the songs of the Dogg Pound era a depth and authenticity, Herb has created an original sound that channels the energy of 70s and 80s Soul and RnB.

What you need to do right now is head over to Herb Tha 4th's Spotify profile and give him a follow. He's got 3 full-length albums and a number of singles that you can put on, make a beverage, and sink into the sounds of Herb to escape your worries.
