Paradame the "paradoxical dame" is a singer/rapper based in Seattle who has dropped her long-awaited new album The Moon is a Spaceship. With 4 videos for singles from the record having amassed more than 100,000 views on YouTube, the world has made a strong statement that it's ready for what Paradame has to say.
"Moon..." delivers her signature, unapologetic flows—equal parts introspective and defiant.
Lyrically, Paradame doesn't hold back. "The Bodysnatchers" (check out the video!) channels the novel-then-film Invasion of the Bodysnatchers, confronting the notion that humans have become mere shells of themselves simply following the status quo. "The Sinner" digs into the net-negative effect The Catholic Church has had in our world.
Sonically, Paradame is a full-on mood. J. Lee Mezus' production brings out the boom of the bass. Sultry. Mysterious. Alluring. The album is at once super chill while also delivering a razor-sharp edge. The crystal clear tracks leave space for Paradame's vocal, never overshadowing. Quite the opposite, in fact. The beats, the doubling of strategic vocal moments, the breakdowns--Mezus and Paradame work in tandem to create an atmospheric vibe that is at once relaxing and energizing.
Check out paradame.com for all things Paradame. A string of shows to support the record? We can hope. Until then, go check out her videos!
