Through The Darkness

by Hollow Like Her

Track listing: White Noise (feat. Pablo Viveros), Watch Me Break, Envy the Dead, Still Broken

Hollow Like Her has something for all fans of heavy music and their latest release, Through the Darkness doesn't fail to deliver. The full album drops June 1, 2026, with the first single "Watch Me Break" slated for a March 9 release.

Three of the four tracks, including the lead single, "Watch Me Break" start out heavy but melodic as well. The lyrics and guitar work reminded me of "The Diary of Jane" era Breaking Benjamin but with a female lead singer (Holly Hollow) whose clear voice and wide vocal range brought back memories of Evanescence.

However, Hollow Like Her is hardly a copycat of past musical styles and also doesn't quite fit in any particular box, which is refreshing.

With their introspective, sometimes dark lyrics that also carry hope that there is a light at the end of the tunnel, they are somewhat rare in Heavy music (at least the hope part), which I appreciate during these times of unusual darkness in the world.

Another tool in their toolbox is that Hollow Like Her incorporates a male voice as well (JR Jinx, also on bass). His interludes between the melodic, clearly sung music are much heavier thrash/ death metal that were a bit jarring for me at first but upon another listen seemed much more like they belonged to each song, expressing perhaps the anger and power undercurrents to the songs.

Jinx is featured the most in "White Noise," but his talents are part of each song, acting like a direct counterpoint to Hollow's vocals.

The second single "Envy the Dead" is a standout track as well. In fact all four of the tracks are worth checking out. Each is unique but follow an underlying theme lyrically and musically.

I would certainly recommend that fans of heavier music check this band out if they haven't already. Follow their social and streaming platforms and get the latest band news at hollowlikeher.com.
