Hippy & The Goods

Genre: Country/Americana
Hometown: San Diego, CA

When you think of cities with rich histories in Outlaw Country and Southern & Classic Rock, San Diego, California probably isn't high on your list. But local super group Hippy & The Goods brings a hefty dose of it all to America's Finest City. Bringing together members from a number of other local bands, Hippy & The Goods channels influences ranging from Waylon & Willie to Skynyrd & The Allman Brothers and Thin Lizzy.

Fronting the band is namesake Hippy Goods on guitar and vocals. Caleb Quam's on bass, Richie Hernandez on guitar. The group's got a harp player in Travis Baucum and Justin Delavega sits behind the drum kit. On stage, Hippy & The Goods blend their original work with covers from artists as varied as Robert Johnson, Buffalo Springfield and Van Morrison, sinking deep into the fertile Delta Blues then turning it up to blow the roof of the joint with some blistering Allman-esque intensity.

If you happen through San Diego during the holidays, keep an eye out for what has become a city staple: Hippy & The Goods eschew a predictable set of holiday songs in favor of hosting a blowout mixing Country & Western deep cuts with less traditional rock n roll Christmas fare.
