2nd Annual DaveFest

Jan 13‑Jan 14, 2017 (Austin, TX)

The 2nd Annual DaveFest is a fundraising event benefitting DaveTV.org. As most of you know, Dave Prewitt is an incredibly important and beloved fixture in the Austin music scene, documenting local bands' live performances for artistic credit only. This is our chance, as a community, to help him help us. These two night of stellar bands are for your enjoyment and to gather all the funds you care to donate to help Dave continue to support local bands.

This mini-festival was started as a snarky jab at the better known, similarly accronymed event but has taken on a life of its own and is now in its sixth year. This year "The Other ACL" has two free nights with the first sporting Mike Watt & His Missingmen and Hamell on Trial as co-headliners. You can attend all four nights for only $15, be just about as close as you want to the stage, and not have to wade through throngs of glo-sticks and patchouli’ed “festival trash” while enjoying reasonably priced drinks and indoor plumbing and also supporting LOCAL independent businesses that support LOCAL music year round. From ACL founder/organizer Jeff Smith, "I am not in the concert promotion business and have no sponsors for this event and have little backup other than what I receive from the Hickoids and a few friends. I believe that the only thing that should be on the stage is the artist and whatever and whoever they choose to bring with them. If you feel the same way - please support."

Oct 4‑Sep 14, 2013 (Austin, TX)

San Antonio based label Saustex and the Hickoids are pleased to announce the full lineup of the 2013 Austin Corn Loversʼ Fiesta, featuring The Old 97’s, David Yow fronting The Dicks rhythm section as The Dildos, Two Hoots and a Holler, Rosie Flores, The Beaumonts and a slew of other regional heroes. Not to be confused with another somewhat larger and similarly acronymed festival (hereafter referred to as the “other ACL”) that takes place in Austin during the same timeframe, The Austin Corn Loversʼ Fiesta offers unique differences and amenities (including Air Conditioning, Reasonably Priced Drinks, No $8 beer, Indoor Plumbing, Low Cover Charges).

The floating club mini-fest, now in its fourth year seeks to present outsider roots and punk music in an intimate atmosphere. If you canʼt catch a picture of the band on your phone you ainʼt in the club! This is THE Austin that the rep was built on -- not the bloated, sweltering hipster wannabe episode of “Entourage” it has become.

3rd Annual Austin Corn Lover’s Fiesta

Oct 11‑Oct 14, 2012 (Austin, TX)

The Third Annual Austin Corn Lover's Fiesta—a little event referred to as "ACL"—is not to be confused with any similarly scheduled or acronymed music festivals. This ACL celebrates LOCAL and REGIONAL music, camaraderie and independence. No big names, big ticket prices, or overwhelming crowds.

With the recent closings of three of last year's venues (Lovejoy's, Trophy's, and The Scoot Inn) it seems more important than ever to retrench and make our ongoing stand against hipsters, misguided city master planning, limp-wristed gentrification (meaning people who move to the downtown of "The Live Music Capitol Of The World" and expect to live in a sound free environment, not homosexuals), and douchery in general.

The talent isn't famous. There are no sponsors other than Saustex and few good folks who cross-promote. You probably won't even catch a live feed on CNN. So what? This ACL still rocks.
