Jihao Zhang is an award-winning music producer, recording/mixing engineer, with seven years of building fantastic sound tapestries and collaborative relationships with musicians all around the world, currently located in Brooklyn, NY. Mentored by Grammy-Winning Producer/Engineer Kevin Killen, Jihao finds a great balance between technical processes and aesthetics of recording art. His mixes realize potential artistic expressions in every composition.
After finishing his bachelor’s degree at Berklee College of Music, and his master's degree in Music Technology at New York University, in September 2019 Jihao founded Neptune Sound to provide professional and polished production services for musicians and filmmakers internationally. Fields of expertise cover from producing, recording, mixing, to mastering within a wide range of genres. During his seven years of stay in New York City, Jihao has worked with established musicians, such as John Scofield, Joe Lovano, Tom Scott, Gerry Leonard, Tony Moreno, Manhattan Camerata, Joel Chadabe, Mary Gatchell, etc, from vocal sessions to big band recording sessions.
In 2021, the film “Manchuria Tiger” that Jihao mixed the scores for won the best feature film at SIFF Golden Goblet Awards.
