Psychedelic soul artist Sonya Jevette and Hell's Belles guitarist Adrian Conner have joined forces to co-write and record “Goon,” a song that the two describe as "a strange mix of Hip-Hop elements and Rock that examines the Pandemic Systemic Race War, the Black Lives Matter movement, and the seemingly impenetrable American Divide."

"Goon" will be available worldwide on all major streaming services on April 15, 2021. The duo also created and both star in a lyric video for the song that will exclusively premiere the same day on coyotemusic.com.

Jevette, who sits on the board of Austin Texas Musicians, first met Conner ten or so years ago at a gig Adrian played in the DFW area. Sonya recalls the night vividly. "As soon as [Adrian] started playing I thought, 'Holy fuck, who is this?' I sat in front of the stage with my mouth open for pretty much the entire show." So when the two crossed paths again online during the 2020 quarantine they were not at a loss for conversation, and the topic quickly turned to collaborating on a song.

"I got my feet up on the desk,
Bubba’s got his knee in your chest"

Conner introduced the idea of writing together and Jevette in turn urged Conner to sing on the track, something she hadn't initially envisioned herself doing. The subject matter was easy enough to identify. There had been high profile social and political unrest throughout most of 2020, which seemed to peak with the January 6th attack on the U.S. Capitol. Both artists felt it important to address these issues head-on.

"The way I have felt ever since the Pandemic / Systemic Race War started was that I am, and have been, in a state of PTSD," Jevette says. "My 85-year-old father asked me what I'm gonna do about this? What can I do?"

What she's done is speak up and speak out. "The only thing I know is music, so music is my vessel that people can drink from (or pass). But this country, this world must change. It's time. Time for a change. It's time for a change in order to improve the lives of future generations."

Coyote Music is an artist promotion company based in Austin, Texas and is thrilled at the opportunity to help bring attention to "Goon." "It is an important song that needs to be heard, spread, and discussed," says Owner/Editor Wiley Koepp. "If one of Adrian and Sonya's lyrics makes you shift in your chair, then they've done a good job of writing a provocative lyric that makes you think."
