21st Annual ‘El Veterano’ Conjunto Festival
Award-winning conjunto music legend, Linda Escobar has announced the rescheduled date, time and line-up for her 21st Annual ‘El Veterano’ Conjunto Festival. The multi-artist event will be held Sunday, February 6, 2022 at the Columbian Civic Center (formerly the KC Hall) at 2137 Business Hwy 77N in Robstown, Texas. Ceremonies start with honoring our veterans at noon followed with continuous conjunto music lasting until 9:00 pm.
Admission is $15 per person (sold at the door only). There will also be a raffle for two beautiful Hohner accordions and a BBQ plate sale as well. All proceeds benefit the El Veterano Scholarship Fund in memory of Linda’s late father, Eligio Escobar who was a World War II U.S. Army veteran and also a popular conjunto musician.
This year’s scholarship winner is Perla Alejandra Hernandez, 19, of Roma, Texas.
The event, which usually coincides during the week of Veterans Day, was canceled in 2020 due to COVID-19 and was scheduled to start again in November 2021 but the uncertainty of the pandemic forced the postponement to this current date.
The public is welcome to attend and you can ‘meet and greet’ with the artists as well.
