WLAV (aka White Lines And Versace) is a Charlotte, North Carolina based EDM artist who specializes in the intense subgenre of Witch House. Their combinations of Trap drum loops with a barrage of minor chord synth progressions creates a delightfully unsettling soundtrack for the spookiest of evenings.

WLAV initially ventured into the musical realm in 2016, using Tumblr as a platform for releasing new music. In that year WLAV released their debut, 1001. Then two years later, more deeply anchored into horror-centric production, dropped a follow-up EP 1959. That release is what fully entrenched WLAV into the Witch House community.

Fast-forward to March 2024: WLAV delivers the new 8-song album MEAT, fully saturated in its occult and horror-inspired aesthetic.

What we have here, in MEAT, is what could easily serve as a soundtrack for the next Rob Zombie film or an episode of American Horror Story. The songs aren't riddled with jump scares, though. The title track thumps, its distorted melody and hammering 1-2 rhythm pump fear right through that pair of earbuds into the depths of your soul.

Tracks like "Heartbreaker" are a bit more atmospheric--you can see the fog in the air, a poorly lit walkway, a general sense of fear. "Bitch," on the other hand is almost more...commercial? Imagine a Garbage mashup with Portishead, sans vocals excepting sporadic eerie whispers.
