Melodically simple? Simply melodic? Either? Both? "Honeymoon" is the title track from Brynn Andre's latest release, which is simply delightful. It and the second track "Celebrity" are sonically lush, rich with reverb, but embody the musical theme of the entire album from the get-go: a steady but subtle drum track and keyboards laying smooth foundations upon which Andre's voice dances brilliantly. Comparatively, "Sad" brings about a musically more upbeat mood while still addressing the contrary.

I'm fuckin' sad
I don't want your help
Fuck this staycation
at Hotel Hell
Meltdown, get my stuff,
blame it all on someone
I'm so sad

Comparatively, "Sad" brings about a musically more upbeat mood while still addressing the contrary. "Fertile Ground" dives even deeper into the realm of sadness and disappointment with a quest for fertility never coming to fruition.

There's something about "Honeymoon" the reminds me of Tori Amos' early work. No, not just that it's a female voice + a piano. There's an honesty in the writing. A vulnerability. Maturity. Brynn doesn't seem to write for the fun of it. She's got things to get out that, like many songwriters, must be gotten out of the system and put to tape. There's no option. Her words hit home because they come from a place of love, experience, and longing for whatever it is we're all after.
